Q: How are you handling consultations, postponements and other potential COVID-19 changes?

A: We are doing our absolute best to keep our clients and team safe! There will be no in shop consultations until all government restrictions are lifted and Manitoba is in the clear. Until then, we are hosting virtual consults to go over all your wedding needs. For more information, please check out our COVID-19 policy guide on our “bookings tabs” or contact us at weddings@academyflorist.com.

Q: How do you price your wedding flowers?

A: Wedding flowers are priced the way they are based on a few factors. The cost of every flower variety fluctuates as flowers are seasonal. For example, if you wanted peonies in August they would cost more than if you wanted peonies in May. Time and labor also needs to be calculated in order to properly price the items for your wedding. They are carefully processed, cleaned and intricately arranged by one of our experienced wedding designers. The other factor is supplies. Each wedding requires the use of boxes, tissue, ribbon, tape, paper, wire and the list goes on. The final factor is over-all design aesthetic and size preferences. A larger arrangement will cost you more. Each wedding is carefully priced with all of these things in mind.

Q: How much is the deposit to book my wedding?

A: Your wedding deposit is required to book with us and secure your spot on our calendar. We require a 30% non refundable deposit based on your initial wedding quote.

Q: Can I choose my wedding designer?

A: We love it when our brides request their designer! We have a specific team that is responsible for all of our weddings. It is a real honor and treat for any of us to be chosen specifically. Regardless of who arranges your flowers, they will always uphold the highest of standards.

Q: How much should I budget for my wedding flowers?

A: Budgeting is difficult for so many bride's and sometimes it comes down to one thing: what are you prioritizing? We have had brides that have spent thousands of dollars on a simple backyard wedding because they just love flowers! We have had others that only order a single bouquet. The sky is the limit! But in that same sense, no wedding order is too small. At the end of the day whether you only need flowers for your wedding party or you want flowers dripping from the ceiling, we will quote you based on what you really want. From there, you can decide! With that being said, it is always helpful if you come to us with a budget. That way we can make appropriate suggestions to fit within your budget.

Q: Can I pick up my flowers the day before the wedding?

A: In short, yes. They are your wedding flowers after all!. However, we do not recommend flowers being picked up until the day of the wedding. When we store wedding flowers they are kept in coolers to stay fresh and happy. Wedding flowers are meant for one day, your wedding day. Their purpose is not to last, their purpose is to look stunning for your day! With that in mind, we purposefully allow the flowers to open up so that the day you see them is when they are in their most beautiful state. Because of this, keeping the flowers in our coolers over-night is the safest place they can be.

Q: Can I bring in my own wedding vases?

A: Yes! We have had many bride's in the past who have supplied us with their own wedding vases. We do offer a variety of rental vases to all of our wedding clients but we understand how nice it is to give away the wedding flowers in a vase once the evening is over. We require having the vases a least 2 weeks before the wedding and need to know the size of the vases ahead of time for quoting purposes.

Q; I want to make my own wedding arrangements. Can I order bulk flowers for my wedding from you?

A: You sure can. We often provide bulk flowers for wedding clients who want to design their own bouquets and centerpieces. Bulk orders are priced upon request. We cannot guarantee certain flowers as they are such a delicate commodity that depend so much on the weather. If there is ever a problem getting in the flower variety you've requested we will offer an appropriate substitute. All bulk orders need to be finalized no later than 1 month before the wedding.
